During 2003, Planit, having recognised the demand from the market for globalization of both product and furniture catalogue standards, launched its strategic initiative IPDS, with the distribution of VdDk data. Catalogues that are generated specifically from electronic information received directly from the manufacturers (mainly German suppliers) are localised within Planit’s own distribution.
This gave
Planit users:
Accurate manufacturers’ catalogues
Faster production times
Reduced remedial turnaround
From 1st July 2005, all major updates, initially UK manufacturer catalogues, will benefit from continued development in our bid to achieve full IPDS.
Planit has developed a New Data Standard¹ which will immediately present Planit users worldwide with several distinct advantages:
Further improved quality, accuracy and delivery resulting
from new production techniques
Greater accuracy in product representation
Improved wood textures
Accurate representation of frame styles and handle position
Flexible catalogue structures allowing for closer reflection of the manufacturer's structure
Easier searching facilities for standard and non-standard
products
Reductions in catalogue file sizes, allowing faster
installations and downloads
Enhanced Visualise views
Data is, without doubt, an integral part of Planit’s feature functionality. The new standard will allow our data production teams to take advantage of functionality faster than ever before. For example, Planit’s next version, due January 2006, will offer:
Interactive Handle Positioning
Interactive Door and drawer opening
Interactive Shelf positioning
As you have come to expect with Planit’s upgrades, there are also many more great new features available in the next version. More importantly, they’re absolutely free of charge to our supported users.
You will know that your updated catalogue has been created using our New Data Standard¹ as all updates will be prefixed by NDS.
Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact our Planit Helpline on 01233 635533.
¹Manufacturers’ Catalogues produced in the New Data Standard are not compatible with Planit Designs produced within the current standard, i.e. existing room files should not be opened using a file created in the New Data Standard.
